Im Sinne einer nachhaltigen Anbandelung von Ruhrgebiet und Alpenland bietet mex ein exquisites Festprogramm österreichischer Experimentalmusik. Erwartet werden Gipfel der musikalischen Improvisationskunst, Schmankerl kammermusikalischer Finesse und – felix austria! – die geschickte Verknüpfung verschiedenster Königsdisziplinen mex-typischer Musik.
Das Laptop-Sampling des Frauenduos Silly besticht durch Nuancenreichtum und heitere Schrägheit. Weißes, pinkes und braunes Rauschen und absonderliche Geräusche unbekannter Herkunft ergeben in der Live-Improvisation einen feinen, gelegentlich traumhaft groovenden Krach. Anders Werner Dafeldecker: er rekontextualisiert Orte und Geräusche durch geschicktes Kombinieren der Ausschnitte und Samples von Bandecho und Super 8 Film. Bewegungsabläufe sind in und Ötzi ist out: Hier geht es um das Einfrieren von Zeit. Veritable Popmusikfragmente und sogar Jazzdeformationen kratzt hingegen der turntable-Improvisator dieb13 aus seinen disparaten Vinylplatten und produziert derart, vielleicht auch unter anderem Pseudonym, ein markantes Wechselspiel von Sound und Break. Ebenfalls fingerfertig, jedoch anhand von Zarge, Schnecke und Saiten eines original Cellos sowie Live-Elektronik nutzt Michael Moser den Raum als erweiterten Resonanzkörper und Filter, der durch mehrfache Wiederholung das Klangmaterial auf seine Grundzüge reduziert. Diesen “Ableitungen“ hat der Post-Konzeptionalist musikalisch noch einiges hinzuzufügen.

In the sense of an effective approximation of the Ruhr area and the Alp country, mex offers an exquisites festive program of Austrian experimental music. Summits of the musical improvisation art and Schmankerl of chamber-musical finesse are expected and – felix austria! – the skillful connection of most diverse disciplines of mex-ical music.

The laptop sampling of the female duo Silly captivates by richness of nuances and cheerful obliqueness. White, pink and brown noise and strange sounds of unknown origin produce in the live-improvisation a subtle, occasionally fantastical groovy noise. Differently Werner Dafeldecker: he re-contextualizes places and sounds by skillful combination of the cutouts and samples of band echo and super 8 film. Paths of motion are in and Ötzi is out: Here it deals with the freezing of time. The turntable improvisator dieb13 however scratches veritable fragments of pop and even jazz-deformations from his disparate records and produces in such a way, perhaps inter alia another pseudonym, a striking interplay of sound and break. Likewise, however on the basis of trim, scroll and strings of an original cello as well as on live-electronics, Michael Moser uses the space as extended resonance body and filter, which reduces the sound material to its main features by repeated repetition. The post- conceptualist has musically still some more to add to these „derivations”.
