Phill Niblock (*1933) arbeitet seit den 1960ern als Intermedia-Künstler mit Musik, Film und Fotographie und gehört zu den originalen Minimalisten aus New York. Bekannt für seine satten, lauten Drones, Niblocks Sound ist voll von mikrotonalen Timbres, die im Performance Raum viele andere Töne generieren. Seine Musik und intermediären Performances wurden auf der ganzen Welt präsentiert, ebenso hat er über 1000 Konzerte als Leiter der Foundation Experimental Intermedia kuratiert, die sich für Avantgarde Musik in New York stark macht und eine Zweigstelle in Ghent hat. 2014 wurde Niblock mit dem John Cage Award ausgezeichnet.

Wenn es nicht die Installationen von Peter Strickmann sind, die sich aufführen, nimmt er die Geräusche gerne selbst in die Hand, bewegt sie und beobachtet ihr Verhalten in Ort, Zeit und Geselligkeit. Es ist stets ein Umgang mit den akustischen, sozialen und plötzlichen Aktivitäten und Potentialen eines Ortes im spontanen Handeln mit selbstgebautem Gerät (Wind und Percussion) und vorgefundenem Reiz.

Phill Niblock (*1933) is an intermedia artist using music, film and photography, active since the 1960ies as one of the original New York minimalists. Known for his thick, loud drones of music, Niblock’s signature sound is filled with microtones of instrumental timbres that generate many other tones in the performance space. His music and intermedia performances have been presented around the world, also he has curated more than 1000 concerts as director of Experimental Intermedia, a foundation for avant-garde music based in New York with a branch in Ghent. In 2014 he received the John Cage Award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.

Peter Strickmann is an artist performing, installing and manipulating sounding activity in public and domestic environments. While collaborating with various improvising musical groups or noise-makers and exhibiting in a variety of contexts, he generally observes the behaviour of sound and the habits of listening in diverse routine-settings or extra-ordinary circumstances.
