Alan Courtis (aka Anla Courtis) ist 1972 in Buenos Aires geboren. Er hat in den Bereichen Sound-Art, Elektro-Akustischer Musik, Drone, Noise, Improvisaiton und Komposition gearbeitet. Seine Musik hat immer einen starken Sinn für Experimentelles und basiert auf hohen technischen Fähigkeiten von präparierten Klängen, Tape Manipulationen, Processing von Field Recordings, Live Elektronik, Objekten, Cymbals, Synthesizers, Computers. Er spielt ebenso traditionelle (akustische und elektrische) Instrumente, wie selbst gebaute, seltsam und unübliche Instrumente (wie die Unstringed Guitar).

In der Reihe mex begegnen sich Anja Lautermann (Elektronik, Objekte) und Hanna Schörken (Stimme) zum ersten Mal. Gemeinsame Schnittstelle ist die jahrelange Erforschung der eigenen Instrumente. So werden performative, elektronische und akustische Klangwelten entstehen. Mikrophonierte Objekte, synthetische und elektronische Klänge, klassische Instrumente, gesampelte Fragmente, präparierte Schallplatten und die menschliche Stimme erzeugen ihre eigene, innere Mechanik.
Alan Courtis (aka Anla Courtis) was born in Buenos Aires in 1972. He has been working in the field of sound-art, electro-acoustic music, drone, noise, improvisation and composition. His music always has strong experimental sense and usually based on high-skilled techniques of prepared sound, tape manipulations, processing of field recordings, live electronics, objects, cymbals, synthesizers, computer tools, playing traditional (both acoustic and electric) instruments as well as self-built, strange and unusual instruments (eg. unstringed guitar).

At mex Anja Lautermann (electronics, objects) and Hanna Schörken (voice) encounter for the first time. Their common ground is their year-long research of their own instruments. Like this performativ, electronic and acoustic worlds evolve. Amplified objects, synthetic and electronic sounds, traditional instruments, sampled fragments, prepared records and the human voice create their own inner mechanics.
