Phill N<\/strong>iblock<\/b> (*1933) arbeitet seit den 1960ern als Intermedia-K\u00fcnstler mit Musik, Film und Fotographie und geh\u00f6rt zu den originalen Minimalisten aus New York. Bekannt f\u00fcr seine satten, lauten Drones, Niblocks Sound ist voll von mikrotonalen Timbres, die im Performance Raum viele andere T\u00f6ne generieren. Seine Musik und intermedi\u00e4ren Performances wurden auf der ganzen Welt pr\u00e4sentiert, ebenso hat er \u00fcber 1000 Konzerte als Leiter der Foundation Experimental Intermedia kuratiert, die sich f\u00fcr Avantgarde Musik in New York stark macht und eine Zweigstelle in Ghent hat. 2014 wurde Niblock mit dem John Cage Award ausgezeichnet.

Es ist stets ein Umgang mit den akustischen, sozialen und pl\u00f6tzlichen Aktivit\u00e4ten und Potentialen eines Ortes im spontanen Handeln mit selbstgebautem Ger\u00e4t (Wind und Percussion) und vorgefundenem Reiz.

Phill <\/strong>Niblock<\/b> (*1933) is an intermedia artist using music, film and photography, active since the 1960ies as one of the original New York minimalists. Known for his thick, loud drones of music, Niblock\u2019s signature sound is filled with microtones of instrumental timbres that generate many other tones in the performance space. His music and intermedia performances have been presented around the world, also he has curated more than 1000 concerts as director of Experimental Intermedia, a foundation for avant-garde music based in New York with a branch in Ghent. In 2014 he received the John Cage Award from the Foundation for Contemporary Arts.
