<\/a>Lucas ‚Granpa‘ Abela (fka Justice Yeldham)<\/strong> hat \u00fcber 20 Jahre damit verbracht, ihr charakteristisches Instrument zu spielen; Verst\u00e4rkte Glasscherben. Diese einzigartige Praxis hat ihren Ursprung im Noise-Underground, wobei sich das Glas von einem Mittel zur Erzeugung von freien Ger\u00e4usch-Kakophonien entwickelte, das in kurzen, ekstatischen, oft gef\u00e4hrlichen Sets in das inzwischen seltsam vielseitige Instrument hineinplatzte, das eine ganz eigene Art von organischer Elektronik produziert. Abela spielt das Glas, indem er Vibrationen in die Scheibe \u00fcbertr\u00e4gt, indem er mit seinen Lippen ein komplexes modulares Patch f\u00fcttert, das keine traditionellen Synthesetechniken verwendet (keine Oszillatoren, H\u00fcllkurvengeneratoren, Sequenzer usw.). Stattdessen werden alle Kl\u00e4nge (abgesehen von den gelegentlichen Pop-Vocal-Stems) und Modulationen vom Glas selbst erzeugt. Lucas \u2018Granpa\u2019 Abela (fka Justice Yeldham)<\/strong> has spent over 20 years performing their signature instrument; amplified shards of glass. This singular practice spawned from within the noise music underground, the glass evolving from a means to create free-noise cacophonies blurted out during short ecstatic often perilous sets into the now oddly versatile instrument that produces some kind of organic electronica all their own. Abela plays the glass by transmitting vibrations into the pane using their lips to feed a complex modular patch that uses no traditional syntheses techniques (no oscillators, envelope generators, sequencers etc). Instead, all sounds (besides the occasional pop vocal stems) & modulations are produced by the glass itself. The patch extracting control voltages from the dynamics & frequency of the performance, enabling the glass\u2019 raw audio to modulate itself as it careens along varying parallel effects chains producing ghostly accompaniments that blended together form dense layers of anomalous music. Der Titel fungiert als motorische Metapher f\u00fcr Dringlichkeit, Reduktion und Transport von Momenten. Durch die Verbindung von Kompression, Overload, Klangdesign und visuellen Bez\u00fcgen entsteht ein multisensorisches Erlebnis, das Stimmfarben, Ger\u00e4uschquellen und digitale Effekte geschickt miteinander verweben. In the new performance „squeeze to go<\/strong>„, Wenzel shows a focused, compact dramaturgy: short, concise segments that function like to-go units, but still bring a spatial and temporal development. The title functions as a motor metaphor for urgency, reduction and transport of moments. The combination of compression, overload, sound design and visual references creates a multi-sensory experience that cleverly interweaves vocal colours, sound sources and digital effects. The result is a clear, striking sound – raw, precise, electrifying – which nevertheless allows for fine nuances. Wenzel’s voice transforms space and time into sometimes extreme sound events that touch, provoke and make you think.
