Wie klingt ein Garten aus Glasvasen? Wie wirkt eine Komposition mit irregef\u00fchrtem Video-Autofokus? Kann hei\u00dfes Wasser musizieren?<\/p>\n

F\u00fcr Seiji Morimoto<\/strong> ist Klang ein Mittel, um einen Teil der Welt zu verstehen. Unscheinbaren, urspr\u00fcnglich au\u00dfermusikalischen Kl\u00e4ngen geht er auf den Grund \u2013 und verdichtet seine experimentellen Erkenntnisse in subtil eindringlichen Inszenierungen von Material und Audio. Scheinbar zuf\u00e4llige Ph\u00e4nomene \u00fcberf\u00fchrt er in flie\u00dfend stimmige Kunst- und Musikereignisse.<\/p>\n

Bei mex legt der Ex-G\u00e4rtner einen Breathing Garden<\/em><\/strong> an: Auf dem Boden verteilte, verschieden gro\u00dfe Glasvasen, in denen Lautsprecher ver\u00e4nderlich hohe Sinust\u00f6ne vor sich hin summen \u2013 solange bis sie, ged\u00fcngt durch die Eigenfrequenz der jeweiligen Vase, zur lauten Entfaltung gelangen. Die derart punktuell verst\u00e4rkten Sounds \u00fcberlagern sich zu einer komplexen Klanglandschaft, die im Raum ein poetisches Eigenleben entwickelt.<\/p>\n

Morimotos Werk wendet sich, auch durch den bewussten Einsatz von Low-Tech, von der Informationsf\u00fclle und dem Tempo der gegenw\u00e4rtigen Gesellschaft ab, hin zu kleinen und differenzierten Strukturen. So ist Study of Light<\/em><\/strong> eine abstrakt wirkende Komposition aus videonal gewonnenen Lichtbildern, die vorf\u00fchrt, welche k\u00fcnstlerische Qualit\u00e4t gedeihen kann, wenn man einer technischen Unzul\u00e4nglichkeit zu k\u00fcnstlerischer Gr\u00f6\u00dfe verhilft. Licht und Klang werden von Morimoto gerne eng miteinander verkn\u00fcpft.<\/p>\n

Anl\u00e4sslich der Ausstellungser\u00f6ffnung wird er mit Taschenlampe, Spiegel, und Weingl\u00e4sern eine Art Wasserzeremonie auff\u00fchren, bei der sich wechselnde Temperaturen f\u00fcr Entstehung und Gedeih der Kl\u00e4nge verantwortlich zeigen.<\/p>\n

How does a garden of glass vases sound? How does a composition with a misled video autofocus work? Can hot water make music?<\/em><\/p>\n

<\/em><\/p>\n

For Seiji Morimoto <\/strong>sound is an instrument to understand a part of the world. He gets to the bottom of inconspicuous and originally non-musical sounds \u2013 and condenses his experimental findings in subtly haunting productions of material and audio. He transforms apparently coincidental phenomena into flowing, coherent art and musical events. <\/em><\/p>\n

At mex the ex-gardner will install a<\/em> Breathing Garden<\/strong>: glass vases of different sizes are distributed across the floor; inside the vases, loudspeakers hum shifting high-tone sine waves \u2013 until they, fertilized by the resonating frequency of the respective vase, flower out loud. These sounds, thus intensified at  intervals, superpose to form a complex sound landscape, which develops its own poetic independent existence in the space. <\/em><\/p>\n

Morimoto’s work turns away from the information abundance and the speed of contemporary society \u2013 also in no small part due to his embracing of all things lo-tech – towards small and differentiated structures. Thus is the case with <\/em>Study Of Light<\/strong>, a seemingly abstract composition of photos captured through video, which demonstrates how artistic quality can prosper if one helps a technical inadequacy become an artistic virtue. Morimoto delights in the close interweaving of light and sound. On the occasion of the exhibition opening he will perform a kind of water ceremony with flashlight, mirror and wine glasses, at which changing temperatures will be shown responsible for the emergence and the flourishing of the sounds.<\/em><\/p>\n
